** general note, but "blue" and "white" are colours that occur constantly across this piece, and I think it's fairly safe to take 'blue' as generally corresponding symbolically to tamaki, and 'white' to sougo!

*** also, regarding the title, According To Wikipedia violet is the combination of blue and purple even though I swear I have spent the entirety of my life using violet and purple interchangeably so you can also pretend this is just my sougo bias blinding me if you'd like. the original japanese title is 青紫の霹靂!

(1) — tamaki originally thinks of sougo as 'an onii-san who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere', so it's probably worth noting that he's registering sougo as something of an older brother figure.

(2) — I think this line is meant to be taken both ways, as both sougo and tamaki looking at the other and thinking 'you must be a celebrity', but the second word (entertainer-to-be) is written as 芸能人の卵. literally an egg of an entertainer.

(3) — I Hate Tamaki's うすs; I think it's probably a corruption of おっす, but おっす is just as difficult to convey the meaning of. think of it as a grunt-y kind of delinquent-y yessir I guess?

(4) — this line is 'それもそのはずだ.', which is a usage of はず I'm not as familiar with, and I'm not sure if it's meant to say: it must have been that they were shy, that was why they never talked about each other on the media, or: it must have been because on a private level they didn't get along, that was why they never talked about each other on the media.

(5) — I think he means a night light, but it's literally 'baby light', and sougo objects to 'baby light', so.

(6) — it says 立役者 I am not making this up

(7) — iori says 殺伐とした時代 and I. when does idolish7 take place???????

(8) — [sougo voice] kokoro no junbi ga

(9) — this discord (不協和音) is the same discord that's in sougo's first memories melodies line! (不協和音じゃいられない)

(10) — the director (I'm assuming) says お願いします, which is lit just "please", so I changed the wording to imply a similar meaning of Please Start Moving

(11) — 組体操 is a common component of japanese phys ed curriculums for which "there is no unified English expression." basically it's using a group of people to form larger shapes w/ just their bodies as a way of emphasising the group over the individual!

(12) — this was another うひゃあ (yikes), but While feeling yikes doesn't sound as right in english as it does in japanese

(13) — this particular his is referring to sougo; this paragraph is written from sougo's perspective!

(14) — the stinging pain is phrased with roughly the same language as sougo's stinging pain from the previous section, so I've repeated the same word pattern here.

(15) — this line was originally written in english, so I've italicised it here!
