I've actually forgotten how to write translation notes but here I go! mitsuki says riku and tamaki have been saying happy new year @ each other ever since 元旦, which translates to "the morning of new year's day", and tamaki replies with "until the 正月気分 ends" & sougo follows it up with Finally We Can Go Shrine Visiting, which leads me to believe this story is actually taking place around january 2nd or 3rd, since it's their Last Chance To Go On A First Shrine Visit Of The Year (generally these visits are done within the first 3 days of the new year!)

so please consider how riku and tamaki have spent the past 72 hours saying Happy new year! @ each other nonstop, thank u

(if it's already january 3rd when this story takes place, then that also explains why riku could think tamaki found some time to sneak off to a shrine all by himself)

4. I Have Not Read The Story In A Long Time But I Do Not Recognize This Sparkly Eyed Nagi Sprite

5. nagi names all of these new year traditions in katakana and I wish he wouldn't, but the last thing he refers to is "二拝二拍手一拝", or "two bows, two claps, one bow". it's the way one prays at a shrine; i.e. by bowing twice, clapping twice, and then bowing once more. I thought about shortening it to just "traditional prayer" but then I realized it would be too funny to have nagi simply literally say the sequence. look, everyone, it's the First Unnecessary Translation™ of the year

but anyways, he's referring to a traditional prayer sequence, that's all!

6. ah, there's not really any good way to illustrate the story's stage directions in a t/l aside from [ent: iori, riku, nagi] → [riku: slides towards iori] (............. in hindsight, maybe that would have been fine), but, when riku says he'll show nagi a lion dance, his sprite moves towards iori's and so I can only assume he is latching onto iori and pretending to jump around like a lion

iori confirms my suspicions two lines later

8: mitsuki says it's nagi's "頭出し", which literally means "put your head out", but in this case he also means it as "it's your cue". nagi replies with "出していますよ?", read: "I'm putting my head out?", to which mitsuki replies, "you are 6 feet tall and I am 2 inches tall, I cannot reach your head, I am telling you to bend tf down you fool"

9. I don't know if riku just meant "trade bodies with me tamaki", but since he uses the word 胴体, which can mean "body" or "torso", and his torso is where his lungs are, and his lungs are bad, I guess he just wants tamaki's torso and that's it?

in hindsight I have realized he just means he's trading off the role of being the lion's torso with tamaki so he can Get Bit, but isn't [riku voice] Gimme your torso! a funnier exchange?
